Teaching Assistant

 Grade 3, £24,796-£25,185 (£12.85 to £13.05 pro rata)

 Harlands Primary School is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible.  The role will include general classwork, interventions and specific 1:1 support linked to individual children.  the post will be for five days a week, initially fixed term to July 026 but with the possibility of extension thereafter.

The hours of work for all our Teaching Assistants are normally between 8.20am-3.20pm.   Teaching Assistants are asked to carry out lunch duties with the children.  They will be able to take a break for their own lunch, usually between 1.00-1.30pm but the timing may vary, depending upon the needs of the children and the availability of additional support. 

The successful candidates will:

Be enthusiastic, caring, well-motivated and adaptable

• Be patient, sensitive, firm and tactful
• Work well as part of a friendly and successful school team
• Maintain confidentiality
• Have some knowledge and/or experience of working with primary children, and ideally have some knowledge of SEN for working 1:1 
• Plan differentiated learning tasks to support pupils
• Show an active appreciation of the important role break-times and lunchtimes play in a child’s social and emotional development
• Be suitably qualified with good basic mathematical skills, and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a variety of settings (GCSE Grade C+ or equivalent)
• An NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification is desirable, but not essential. (The roles available may provide a pathway to gaining a Teaching Assistant qualification in the future.)
