Applications are invited from those with appropriate skills to join the Members of Harlands Educational Trust
As a standalone Academy, Harlands Educational Trust is required to appoint Members whose responsibility is oversight of the work undertaken by the Trustees in guiding the strategies and decision-making of Harlands Primary. We are seeking applications from people with appropriate skills and experience to join our Member team.
The prime role of Members of the Academy is to ensure that the Trustees are fulfilling their charitable object: to advance for public benefit education in the United Kingdom, by establishing a broad and balanced curriculum. Members will typically meet once a term, maintaining oversight of the Trustee Board in its discharge of responsibilities.
Additional Member responsibilities include appointing the Trust Auditors and receiving the Trust’s annual audited accounts. The Trustee Board will convene an Annual General Meeting (normally in December) to which Members will be invited with the principal item on the agenda being the audited annual accounts.
Members must have thorough understanding of the role of governance in public life. This may have been gained in a wide range of senior leadership roles, with previous experience as a NED or Trustee desirable. Previous experience in an education role is also desirable but the key competencies required are the ability to take a strategic view of the Trust and the operation of its Board and to ensure Trust activities are focussed always on the best interests of the pupils.
Details about the member structure/role description are available here.
